Abstract

817,546. Hydraulic machines. SOC. CIVILE D' ETUDES POUR MATERIAL DE FONDERIE. April 23, 1957 [April 24, 1956; April 5, 1957], No. 12903/57. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXX] The piston 25 of a thrustor forming part of a load-handling device (see Group XXX) is provided with a part 25a which co-operates with a recess 35 to damp movement of the piston at the end of its outward stroke when liquid is being displaced from the cylinder to a conduit 27 by air pressure admitted to the cylinder through conduit 24. At the start of the return stroke liquid is transmitted directly to the full bore portion of the cylinder through a passage (Fig. 4, not shown), which by-passes recess 35 and which is opened by a pneumatically-controlled needle valve.
