Abstract

Apparatus for liquid treating textile material is particularly described for treating material in hank form and comprises the following components: a casing 1 having a removable cover 18, a removable cage having a top 16 and a central partition 15 extending between sides 14 and defining two side-by-side compartments each containing material to be treated and through which compartments in series the liquor is circulated, a cage bottom 17 contacting the top of an apertured tunnel 5 housing motordriven impellers 9, top and bottom hank stick supports, a container 38 for receiving excess liquor driven thereinto during the operation, a water tank 58 and stand pipe 57 providing a static pressure during operation, a dye charging box 45 which may be isolated by valves 51 in two tubes 49, steam heating coils 53, and various pressure, overflow and discharge control valves. The upper hank sticks 25 are supported by ledges 24 and retained by a movable angle bar 26, and further upper sticks 30 are supported on ledges 29. The lower sticks 34 are supported on height-adjustable rods 33 passed through holes 32 in side plates 31, and looped rods 36 are provided to retain the sticks against lateral displacement. In operation the hanks are mounted in the cage whilst the cage is outside the casing, and the cage with its cover 18 is then lowered into the casing and the cover clamped down. The casing is then filled with liquor, and dye and so on is added through the container 38 or the dye box 45. Rotation of the impellers 9 then causes a circulation of the liquor first through one compartment of the cage and then through the other as shown by the arrows in Fig. 2, the valve 60 controlling the stand pipe being opened to exert a static pressure whilst the coils 53 meanwhile heat the liquor to a high temperature, e.g. above 215 DEG F. <PICT:0816467/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0816467/IV (c)/2>
