Abstract

Steam sterilizing apparatus comprises a sterilizing compartment, a water-storage compartment with means for boiling the water and a steam-condensing compartment, all three compartments being in direct communication without intervening valves to maintain pressure equilibrium throughout the apparatus during operation. Means are associated with the condensing compartment to accelerate steam condensation therein and, in the specific embodiment shown, the condensing chamber, which is situated at one end of a generally cylindrical sterilizing chamber, is cooled by an electrically operated fan. The water in the storage compartment at the bottom of the sterilizing chamber is also heated electrically.
