815,239. Handlebars. PHILLIPS & CO. Ltd., J. A. May 2, 1957 [May 2, 1956], No. 13480/56. Class 136(3) Relates to handlebar assemblies of the kind in which the stem 7 and attachment lug 1 are secured together, after assembly, by the bolt 13 which connects the stem to the steering fork tube. According to the invention the lug 1, which has limbs 4, 5 for receiving the stem, has a web part which partially surrounds the handlebar 3, and the stem has a deep depression 12 into which the handlebar enters to lock the assembly of lug and stem against relative axial displacement. The lug shown is supported by an interrupted, or it may be a continuous, rib 9, and the stem has a tongue 10 which enters a recess in the lug to hold these two parts against relative angular displacement.
