Abstract
A make-up removing composition, particularly for removing lip make-up, comprises an aqueous solution of 1 or more fatty alcohol sulphates or salts thereof and a weak organic base in sufficient quantity to bring the pH of the composition to approximately 8.0. Specified fatty alcohols are cetyl, lauryl and stearyl. Specified salts are propanolamine, sodium and triethanolamine. The composition may be prepared as a liquid or paste or solid gelled with an agent such as silicic acid. Examples describe (1) a 15 per cent aqueous solution of a mixture of fatty alcohol sulphates having between 12 and 18 carbon atoms brought to a pH of about 8.0 by triethanolamine; (2) a 40 per cent aqueous solution of triethanolamine cetyl sulphate adjusted to a pH of about 8.0 by triethanolamine; (3) a 30 per cent aqueous solution of propanolamine stearyl sulphate adjusted to a pH of about 8 with propanolamine.
