Abstract

803,583. Semi-conductor devices. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. Jan. 24, 1955, No. 2061/55. Class 37. [Also in Group XXII] A semi-conductor device is manufactured by supporting a wire or strip comprising a significant impurity in a jig with one end in contact with a semi-conductor body and heating so as to form an alloy electrode. In Fig. 1, jigs 4 support indium wires 5 in contact with the surface of N-type germanium bodies 3 which are mounted on a moving belt 1 so that they can be passed through heating coil 2. The indium is melted and forms an alloy electrode. A further conductor 7 (Fig. 2) of nickel is soldered to indium wire 6 to complete the electrode connection. Specification 724,930 is referred to.
