Abstract

803,354. Windscreen wipers. BOSCH, G. m. b. H., R. Nov. 22, 1956 [Dec. 15, 1955], No. 35688/56. Class 138(1). In a windscreen wiper having a resilient blade with a longitudinal groove on each side, each groove being engaged by the inner marginal edge of a flat bar, which bars are suspended from a supporting stirrup, each of the two bars forms one arm of a U-shaped stirrup, the free ends of which are prevented from spreading apart by a cramp-like enclosing member. As shown, a wiper blade 2 has grooves 3 which are engaged by the inner edges of the sides 4, 5 of a U- shaped stirrup and the free ends of sides are engaged by a clamp 11, the sides 12, 13 of which engage recesses in the outer edges of the arms and a further lug 14 engages in recesses in the inner edges. The stirrup may be stamped out of sheet metal in its U-shape, Fig. 6, or may be stamped out as a strip having a central recess about which it is bent, Figs. 8-10 (not shown). The blade is entered through the open end before affixing the clamp 11.
