Abstract

802,571. Brushes and pads combined with other articles. ALLEN, W. Oct. 22, 1954 [Oct. 28, 1953; April 22, 1954], Nos. 29767/53 and 11596/54. Class 19. A cleaning device for bladed tools, more particularly lawn mowers and garden shears, comprises two arms connected for movement towards and away from each other, a pair of brushes mounted on the arms to engage opposite sides of a blade of the tool and a third brush projecting beyond the connected ends. As shown in Fig. 1, the arms are urged apart by a spring and carry oiling pads 12, 13 in addition to the brushes. The pivot carries a tool 21 for cleaning oiling holes and a scraper 22 having a curved surface to fit the roller of a lawn mower. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4, the arms are made of resilient twisted wires having bristled ends 35 and 36 and fibrous oiling pads 37, 38. A clip 39 is provided to hold the arms together. The member 33 which carries the additional brush 34 may also carry the tools 21 and 22 of Fig. 1. The bristles may be of a synthetic fibre such as nylon or of wire.
