Abstract

801,978. Automatic circuit - breakers; switches, partly electromagnetic; switches held set and freed mechanically. COQ, N. V. March 25, 1957 [March 27, 1956], No. 9659/57. Class 38 (5). The switch or circuit-breaker operating mechanism of Specification 753,754 is modified by the provision of a stop 8a for the contact carrying member 5, the stop being positioned so that with the mechanism in the closed position (as shown) the intermediate member 12 is in an intermediate position a short distance away from a stop 13. Hence, when the mechanism is tripped to the " open " position the closing spring 14 moves the member 12 against the stop 13 and through linkage 41, 43 and pin 44 acts on the member 5 to initially assist the opening spring 9 to open the contacts (not shown). The springs 9, 14 may be tensioned by means of the handle 19, or by a powered actuator, the toggle 16, 17 may be released to close the contacts by the handle or powered actuator or by an electromagnet and the pawl 36 may be released to trip open the contacts by means of a push button 40 or by an electromagnet.
