Abstract

801,286. Apparatus for measuring the dryness of hair. VATTER, J. June 13, 1956 [June 14, 1955], No. 18279/56. Class 37. The dryness of hair is controlled by means of a pair of electrodes inserted in the hair and connected to a thermionic amplifier to control the drier. As shown, Fig. 1, the hair to be dried may be wrapped around an insulating cylindrical curler comprising two sets of electrodes 5 the arrangement being that all the electrodes are connected to terminals 3a, 3b each electrode being connected to a different terminal from its immediate neighbours. Insulating discs 4 prevent the electrode touching the scalp. A curler intended to be used in the vertical position (Fig. 2) does not need the insulating discs. Figs. 3 and 4 show hair grips consisting of two forkshaped parts 7 with electrodes 9. The pointed electrode shown in the arrangements described may be replaced by a continuous wire, loops of which are pushed through holes and twisted.
