Abstract
800,400. Closures for resisting fluid pressure. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 25, 1956 [Nov. 24, 1955], No. 32514/56. Class 123(1) The bottom cover 4 and the top cover (not shown) of a circular high pressure container 1 are held together by a plurality of bolts 12, the bottom cover 4 being disposed in a ring flange 3 attached by bolts 5 to an outer part 2 fixed to the wall of the container. A resilient thin sheet seal 11 is attached, preferably by projection welding, to the bottom cover 4 and the ring flange 3 and aluminium wire seals 6 are disposed between the ring flange 3 and the outer part 2. The bolts 12 have hammer heads 13 which fit into holes 14 in the bottom cover 4, the holes 14 being of such a shape that when the bottom cover is lifted by the amount of limited axial clearance 9 and the bolts 5 are removed, the bottom cover and the ring flange 3 can be detached by moving them radially. In a modification Fig. 4, the bottom cover 4 is formed by two plates 16 and 17 fastened together by means of bolts 18 and welding at their perimeters, the plate 16 having holes 19 similar to the holes 14 and the plates being spaced apart a distance somewhat larger than the depth of the bolt heads.
