Classes 113 and 114. Two blade-wheel propellers 13 disposed respectively at each side of a ship at the bilge with their axes inclined to both the horizontal and the vertical are arranged in dimple like recesses 12 in the external surface 11 of the hull and provide for driving, steering and prevention of rolling. The recesses are of stream-line shape and deep enough to permit the full length of the blades to lie within the ship's profile. The propellers, which may be of the Voigt- Schneider type, may be duplicated in recesses spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the ship and oppose pitching.
