Abstract

787,106. Brushes. BRESSLER, L. R. Nov. 26, 1955, No. 33945/55. Class 19. The bristle-carrying portion of a brush comprises elongated sections 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 so connected together by relatively thin flat resilient plates 30 of plastics material embedded in and extending between the sections at positions intermediate of the ends thereof that flexing movement may occur between adjacent sections, one of which has an axial extension forming a handle portion. The plates 30 are preferably made of Nylon and are either inserted into suitable apertures in the sections or located in a mould prior to the formation of the sections therein of a suitable plastics material. Sockets for receiving bristles are either formed in the sections by moulding or drilling and the plates may have apertures formed therein to coincide with the sockets or they may be drilled during the formation of the sockets. The bristles 27 on being secured in the sockets by staples 28 pass through the plates 30. Opposed side faces of adjacent sections diverge upwardly and downwardly from intermediate points.
