Abstract

786,816. Armature winding machines. GAGLIARDI, G. Sept. 7, 1955 [Sept. 16, 1954], No. 25687/55. Class 35. In an armature winding machine the armature is on an axially and angularly movable shaft and a plurality of wire feeders radially spaced apart around the armature are reciprocated by electromagnets towards and away from the armature in synchronism with the movements of the latter. As shown, shaft 1 carrying the armature R is reciprocated by a slotted bell-crank lever, the slot of one arm of which receives a crank-pin driven from motor M which also drives a contact drum 44 controlling the energization of plunger type electromagnets 37 equal in number to the armature slots and moving the wire carrier tubes 3 towards shaft 1 immediately before and away from shaft 1 immediately after each angular movement of armature R. The angular movement is imparted to a sleeve 25 by an arm 26 (Fig. 6) of adjustable length moved by the plunger of an electromagnet 33, the energization of which is through a contact on or linked with the contact drum 44, the sleeve 25 being carried by a slotted tube 9 through the slot of which a pin 12 on shaft 1 projects. The position and number of electromagnets 37 is adjustable by tongue and groove mountings 36 on one or more rings 34 on the vertical support 2.
