Abstract
785,411. Fuel injectors. SAURER, Ltd., A. Jan. 10, 1956 [Feb 23, 1955], No. 796/56. Class 7(3) A fuel injection valve 3, Fig. 3, lifts a small distance against a first spring 6 to give a low-pressure pre-injection, whereupon the valve becomes loaded by a stronger spring 5 which does not yield until the fuel pressure has risen to that required for the main injection, the spring 6 being located between two movable abutments, 11, 8, associated respectively with the valve 3 and the spring 5. In Fig. 3 the spring 5 acts upon a disc 8 which is abutted by the upper end of the valve 3 after it has risen a small amount for the pre-injection. In a modification the end of the valve 3 is provided with a pintle and in Fig. 5 the valve 30 opens outwardly and opens first against a weak spring 28 until an abutment 29 contacts a plate 26 loaded by the main spring 27 which yields when the main injection pressure is reached.
