Abstract

1364565 Electromagnetic fuel injectors SOC DES PROCEDES MODERNES D'INJECTION SOPROMI 24 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 44696/71 Heading F1B An electromagnetic fuel injector comprises a stationary armature 3, Fig. 1 in an upper body part 2 having a fuel connection 2a and terminals 13, a movable armature 7 rigid with a valve needle 7b and a shim 10 to define the initial gap, the residual gap being formed by a fuel film forming a hydraulic abutment, the fuel being admitted through an axial bore 3a in the stationary armature and escaping solely over the edge of the movable armature to the injection port. The co-operating parts of the armatures and the body parts are trued before assembly. When the winding is energized the armature 7 drives the liquid fuel out of the space between the armatures via eccentric bore (6a), Fig. 2 (not shown) to annular chamber 6b to port 6c. In another embodiment the loading of the movable armature is adjustable and the stationary armature is loaded against a stop collar 5, Fig. 4 by a spring 26.
