Abstract

773,996. Friction grip fastenings. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 6, 1955 [June 18, 1954; Dec. 8, 1954], Nos. 17890/54 and 35498/54. Class 44. [Also in Group XL (c)] To support two aerial elements 49 and 50 upon the rod or tubular elements of a dipole designed for operation at a lower frequency, metal spreaders are fixed to the dipole and support the ends of the higher frequency aerial elements at their outer ends. The spreaders comprise U-section spars having holes 44, and 45 in the centres of the U-section sides through which a dipole member 46 can pass when the normally slightly divergent arms of the U are sprung parallel. When the spreader has been threaded on to the member 46 the arms are released and spring outwards to grip it. A locking stud 47 provides an additional means of fixing. Key-hole slots 48 in the ends of one side of the spreader receive plugs of polyvinylchloride and hold them captive and the aerial elements 49 and 50 are supported by these plugs. Specifications 438,506, 523,060, [both in Group XL], and 628,986, [Group XL (c)], are referred to.
