Abstract

777,034. Alloys; annealing. NYBY BRUKS AKTIEBOLAG. June 1, 1953, No. 15264/53. Classes 72 and 82(1) Objects which during use are to be subjected to temperatures of at least 650‹C. are made of non-precipitation-hardenable alloys of predominating austenitic structure consisting of Ni and/or Mn from 8 to 65 per cent, Fe with or without Co in total amount at least 20 per cent, C not more than 0.6 per cent, Cr 13.7-30 per cent, Si 0-2.0 per cent and Ti in such amount that the active Ti content is not greater than 2.0 per cent but is at least that defined by the curve shown on the drawing in which it is related to the content of Fe plus Co. The active Ti content is that part of the Ti content which is not bound by C or N. The alloys may also contain one or more of W, Mo and V each up to 1.0 per cent and/or one or more of Ta, Nb, Al, Cu, Mg, Zr in total amount up to 5.0 per cent and/or one or more of Th, Ce, Be, B, U, P, As, Sb, S and alkaline earth metals in total amount up to 0.5 per cent. The alloy may be hot worked at a temperature of at least 900‹C. the temperature then being reduced to that at which the objects are to be used. The objects may then be reheated to at least 1000‹C. and cooled preferably with a stall in the range 850- 980‹C. The intermediate cooling may alternatively be to room temperature with reheating to the temperature of use or to 850-980‹C. followed by cooling to the temperature of use. Specification 630,797 is referred to.
