Cellulosic fibrous material of an absorbent and soft character, such as cellulose wadding or crepe paper, coated on one face with polythene to provide a strengthening and waterproof coating, the material beneath the coating retaining its absorbent and soft properties, is suitable for baby napkins. Material treated as a central portion only is suitable as a wrapper for a sanitary pad having an interior absorbent filling andone absorbent and one waterproof face as in Specification 774,793.
