Abstract

774,906. Wheel cover discs. WARD, K. F., and HIPWELL, K. J. May 16, 1955 [May 15, 1954], No. 14289/54. Class 144 (1). A circular wheel cover disc 11 screening the entire wheel 25 and having its periphery 14 adjacent, or abutting, the wheel rim 21, has an annular attachment member 15 secured by spinning to the disc periphery to extend axially inwardly therefrom so that integral circumferentially spaced gripping members 23, 26, projecting radially outwardly from the member 15, frictionally engage the underside of the bead-seating flange 20 of the wheel rim. As shown, the member 15 is a radially outwardly opening C-section member and the gripping members 23, 26 are provided by a gapped radial flange 17 forming its axially inner end, the members 23 being in the form of teeth and arranged in groups of shorter circumferential extent than the intervening members 26. The teeth 23 are slightly proud of the members 26 as shown in Fig. 5.
