Abstract
A condensation compound, which may be used as a dispersing agent for emulsions is made by condensing: (a) a polyalkylene wax, e.g. polyethylene glycols of M.W. 500-10,000; (b) an oxo-compound, e.g. formaldehyde, trioxymethylene, methylal, hexamethylenetetramine, acetaldehyde, crotonaldehyde, acetone, acetophenone and cyclohexanone; (c) high molecular weight aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aliphatic-cycloaliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic compounds containing hydrogen attached to oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen, e.g. alcohols, phenols, mercaptans, amines and carboxylic acids - particularly hexyl, octyl, oleyl, stearyl, naphthene, benzyl and cyclohexyl alcohols; or tetralol, lauric and stearic acid amides; dodecyl and methylcyclohexyl amines; naphthenic and oleic acids; the first fractions of a C7-C9 fatty acid mixture; decylmercaptan and alkylbenzenesulphonamide (alkyl residues C3-C18).ALSO:A condensation compound, which may be used as a dispersing agent for emulsions is made by condensing:(a) A polyalkylene wax, e.g. polyethylene glycols of MW 500-10,000; (b) An oxo-compound, e.g. formaldehyde, trioxymethylene, methylal, hexamethylenetetramine, acetaldehyde, crotonaldehyde, acetone, acetophenone and cyclohexanone; (c) High-molecular weight aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aliphatic-cycloaliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic compounds containing hydrogen attached to oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen, e.g. alcohols, phenols, mercaptans, amines and carboxylic acids, particularly hexyl, octyl, oleyl, stearyl naphthene benzyl and cyclohexyl alcohols; or tetralol lauric and stearic acid amides; dodecyl and methylcyclohexyl amines; naphthenic and oleic acids; the first fractions of a C7-C9 fatty acid mixture; decyl mercaptan and alkylbenzenesulphonamide (alkyl residues C3-C18). The compounds may be used for dispersing or emulsifying liquid or solid substances such as mineral, animal, vegetable or synthetic oils, fats and waxes; natural or synthetic resin oils or resins; natural or synthetic rubber; proteins; synthetic high polymers, such as polyvinyl compounds, polyesters and polyamides, and inorganic and organic pigments and exemplified are sperm oil, paraffin oil, deca hydronaphthalene and sulphonated sperm oil.
