Abstract
A composition for cleansing and polishing non-absorbent surfaces, e.g. of wood, metal or glass, comprises (1) 1-10 parts of oleic acid or of a saturated fatty acid of 12-18 carbon atoms; (2) 0.07-4 parts of borax or an alkali hydroxide, e.g. sodium, potassium or ammonium hydroxide; (3) 2-99 parts of white spirit or vaporizing oil; (4) 0.5-20 parts of silicone fluid, e.g. dimethylsilicone polymer; (5) 1-98 parts of water; and (6) 0.5-5 parts of a dispersing agent, e.g. an alkyl sulphate; the parts are by weight. Components (1) and (2) may be replaced by an equivalent proportion of soap.
