Abstract
739,327. Hook fastenings. PETERS, E. F., and PETERS, H. G. C., [trading as FRANK BROS.]. Jan. 4, 1954, No. 113/54. Class 44. [Also in Group XXXII] A strainer for fixing a luggage carrier on the roof of a vehicle comprises a a hook portion for hooking onto a suitable part of the vehicle and hinged thereto, a shank portion consisting of at least two parts which screw into or onto each other, and means attached to the part of the shank remote from the hook, for securing the strainer to the carrier. As shown, a hook 1, engaged under a rim 12 on the vehicle is hinged by pins 4 to an end piece 2 of a turnbuckle 3, the other end 5 being hinged by pins 10 to a hook 9. The hook is engaged in a slot in a metal plate 13 attached to the side rails 14 of a luggage carrier. In a modification the rod 5 of the turnbuckle is welded to one leaf of a hinge the other leaf of which has holes for use in attachment to the luggage carrier.
