Abstract

738,934. Pipe couplings. SEAMARK, L. M. C. Oct. 12, 1954 [Oct. 12, 1953], No. 28024/53. Class 99 (1). A metal ring 3 placed inside thin-walled metal pipes 1, 2 has secured thereto or integral therewith studs 6 projecting radially through a gap between the ends of the pipes, and clamping-plates 7, preferably serrated and curved, are pressed against the pipe by nuts 9 on the studs. The ring 3 has shallow grooves 4 to receive rubber sealing-rings 5 which are forced into the outer or inner corners of the grooves respectively according to whether the pressure is greater outside or inside the pipes.
