738,336. Magnifying appliances. BARRADA, H. June 3, 1954 [May 6, 1953], No. 12540/53. Class 97 (1). [Also in Group VI] An illuminated magnifier has a battery-operated lamp projecting into a hollow viewing head, the head having a magnifying lens at one end and a speculum or viewing aperture at the other, and a screening hood, for preventing direct light reaching the user, projects into the head but is mounted in the branch tube which engages the handle carrying the battery. A handle 5 encloses the battery and carries a lamp bulb 9 which is illuminated by operating a thumb switch 11. The upper end of the handle is a push fit in a tube 4 so that the bulb 9 lies within the hood 12 and light is directed through the speculum 3. A viewing lens 2 is mounted at the other end of the head 1. The hood 12 is formed with an annular part 14 so as to be a push fit in the tube 4, independently of the handle 5.
