734,874. Contacting gases with liquid. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Feb. 17, 1954 [Nov. 17, 1953], No. 4400/53. Class 55 (2). Packing for a gas-liquid contact column comprises a number of contiguous sheets of mill-expanded metal, defined as being expanded metal in which the uncut webs of the metal sheet are all inclined to the plane of the cut sheet in the same sense and the apertures of which are of identical diamond-shape, arranged so that the inclined webs 6 in any one layer are oppositely inclined to those in an adjacent layer and adjacent sheets are staggered by half the pitch between the uncut webs. U.S.A. Specification 2,470,652 is referred to.
