A contact body for use in premoting mass and/or heat transfer between gases and liquids comprises a number of corrugated sheets of thin. flexible material secured together at places where adjacent sheets touch each other and with the corrugations in alternate sheets oppositely inclined to the vertical as shown. The sheets may be made of paper.
