Abstract
712,021. Stapling pliers. SPEED PRODUCTS CO., Inc. Aug. 27, 1952, No. 21576/52. Class 89(3) A stapling pliers comprises three arms pivotally mounted on a pin F, the upper arm PG carrying a driver blade 35 and a cover C for a magazine on the middle arm M, and the lower arm B carrying an anvil A and a handle H loosely connected thereto by a spring 62. The staple follower FW is urged forwardly by a spring LS which is anchored at 26 to the arm PG and is looped about a pin 20 loosely mounted in slots 22 in the cover C. The ends 21 of the pin 20 co-operate with undercut notches 51 in the magazine arm M to keep the cover C closed. Notches 72 in the ends of wings W are normally clear of pins 71 on the plunger arm'PG, so that the latter can be swung through 180 degrees, Fig. 2, to give access to the magazine. Accidental separation of the magazine and base B is prevented by detents 80 co-operating with recesses in the magazine walls. When the pliers is operated by gripping the handle H and rear end of the plunger arm PG, the anvil A is moved towards the staples S in magazine M, then the recesses 72 engage the pins 71 and the plunger arm PG is moved downwards against a spring 40 and the driver 35 drives the end staple.
