Abstract
711,124. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Sept. 25, 1952 [Oct. 11, 1951], No. 24091/52. Class 39(1) A cathode consists of a sleeve rolled from a metal blank, the edges 24, 25 of the blank overlapping freely, and the edge 24 abutting against a line of recession 32 stamped in the blank. Thus the sleeve resists compressional forces, and, by passing through suitably sized holes in insulating spacers, is also constrained against expansive forces. The sleeve may have rectangular or other cross-section, and may also have lugs to prevent longitudinal movement. The cathode is shown as part of a triode, of which the anode has cooling fins which bear against the insulating spacers.
