718,127. Wind motors; axial-flow pumps and compressors. TERZI. P. Jan. 25, 1952 [Feb. 1, 1951], No. 2136/52. Classes 110(1) and 110(3) [Also in Group XXXIII] An axial-flow pump, compressor, or windmill rotor of the type in which the pitch of the blades is self regulating by the action of natural forces, has each blade rotatabty mounted within a bearing 11, 12 whose outer ring 10 is secured in a radial sleeve 3 on the propeller hub 1, adjusting means being provided for varying the axis O-A of the bearing with respect to the axis Z-Z of the sleeve and also for varying the angle # between the bearing axis OA and the blade axis R-R, and locking means being provided for locking the adjusting means in a desired position. The outer race 10 of a double taper-roller bearing has a spherical surface 18. engaging a corresponding surface 19 in the sleeve 3 and is secured in position by an annular screw 22 through an annular adjusting element 21 which has oblique end surfaces and engages an annular shoulder 20 on the outer race. Rotation of the element 21 in the sleeve adjusts the inclination of the bearing axis. The inner race 9 of the bearing is mounted on a spherical seating 8 secured to a socket 5 screwed on the blade root 4 and is secured in position thereon by an annular screw 27 through annular adjusting rings 23-26 each of which has oblique end surfaces. Relative rotation of the adjusting rings adjusts the inclination of the blade axis with respect to the bearing axis. The rotation of the blade about the bearing axis, which is effected by natural forces, is limited by adjustable stops such as 33 secured respectively to the bearing race 10 and the blade hub.
