703,876. Sanitary closets. SHANKS & CO., Ltd., and SHANKS, A. F. Sept. 12, 1952 [Oct. 19, 1951], No. 24423/51. Class 26, In a close-coupled. water-closet pedestal and cistern unit with two-traps 1A, 1B and an air pipe 8, 9 for extraction of air from the passage 11 between them, the flushing pipe 3 of the siphon 4 has a venturi nozzle 6, 7 within the cistern 2; and the air pipe is disposed externally of the nozzle and is connected to a point at its throat. The air pipe may comprise two sections joined by a coupling member 12 fitted in the bottom of the cistern, and a butterfly valve 15 may be fitted to regulate the flow.
