Abstract

Odour extraction appartus employs energy associated with the flow of water entering a tank (1) for storage before a flushing operation. The system can be arranged so that this water flow occurs as the WC is in use, generating an associated air flow at the same time. The air flow is produced using a Venturi device (1 IA) and is used to withdraw odours along pipe (12) before they escape from the pan (2). Alternatively the energy from the water flow immediately after one flushing operation can be stored and used to produce the required air flow during a subsequent use of the WC.
