Abstract
703,846. Knitting-machines. MELLOR, BROMLEY & CO., Ltd. Aug. 22, 1951 [Oct. 2, 1950No. 24032/50. Class 74 (2) A stop motion for a knitting machine comprises a detector 1a adapted to be held, against a spring 12, in the vicinity of the needles by a catch member 6 engaging a recess in the side wall of a casing 2. When the end 1b of the detector is engaged as a result of a fault or abnormality in the knitting it is moved aside in the casing so as to release the catch and projected upwardly so that an electrical contact 9 carried by it engages a similar contact 16 fixed to the casing thereby energizing an electrical circuit which effects stoppage of the machine. To enable adjustment of its position to be made, the detector is screw threaded in the catch member 6. As described, a number of detectors in their casings may be secured to a cylinder and dial machine and connected to a common electrical circuit.
