Abstract
703,800. Change-speed gearing. KREIDLER. A. Nov. 16, 1951 [Dec. 7, 1950], No. 26895/51. Class 80 (2) Two-speed gearing between the engine shaft 2 and a shaft 7 chain-connected to the rear wheel of an engine-assisted pedal cycle comprises high-speed and low-speed gears 3, 4 formed on shaft 2 and meshing with gears 5, 6 respectively, gear 6 being connected to shaft 7 through a one-way clutch 17 while gear 5 is connected to shaft 7 through a split clutch ring 9 normally held in engagement by a spring- loaded conical plunger 13 in shaft 7 acting on a radial pin 11 but adapted to be disengaged by a control cam 16 acting on the end of the plunger 11. The pedal shaft 23 is connected to shaft 7 through a one-way clutch 22 and gears 18 ... 21. All the gears are housed in a single casing 1.
