Abstract

703,419. Self-feeding, rotary tooth brushes. WENDER, M. Jan. 29, 1951. No. 2194/51. Class 19 [Also in Group VI] A tooth brushing device comprises a pair of removable rotary brushes mounted on a T shaped pipe at one end of the body of the device. the brushes being journalled within the brush hubs and the bristles being set at an angle to the radius of the brushes. The T shaped head shown carries two brushes bolted to shafts journalled within a hollow in the brush hubs. They are driven through bevel gears 29, 30, &c. by a shaft 23. The bristles are set at an angle to the radius of the brush and are combed by the inturned serrated edges 39 of a shield 37 which is secured to a tube fitting on to a further tube attached to the head. The head is one of a number having the different spacings and angles between the brush axes and different strength bristles. It fits detatchably to a handle 5 and is held in position by a claw 14. A clutch 12 transmits the drive from a flexible shaft 10. The motor for the shaft is controlled by a switch 15 and a valve 16 controls the flow of liquid to a pipe 20 the end of which is provided with fine nozzles 48 feeding the liquid through windows on to the brushes.
