Abstract

1,191,160. Carpet sweepers. LEIFHEIT INTERNATIONAL GUNTER LEIFHEIT K.G. 20 July, 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 33436/67. Heading A4F. A carpet sweeper comprises a housing 1 including two dust containers 5, a brush roller 3 driven by engagement with carpet engaging wheels 9 and two further brush rollers 4 which are driven in an opposite rotary direction to the rotary direction in which the brush roller 3 is driven. As shown, the bristles of the brush 3 rotate the brushes 4 so that for each direction of movement of the sweeper the leading pair of brushes 3, 4 sweeps dust into the adjacent container 5. Baffles 6 deflect the dust laden air stream into the container and a ventilation opening 8 covered by a filter 7 is provided in each container. In a modification, the bristles of the brushes 3, 4 do not interengage, the brushes 4 being rotated by their engagement with the carpet.
