Abstract
700,703. Rail vehicle undercarriages. BRITISH TRANSPORT COMMISSION. Feb. 25, 1952 [March 20, 1951], No. 6674/51. Class 103(6) . : Between the body bolster 28 and the bogie bolster 19 are disposed a number of rocking struts 33 having two spherical bearings. at one end and a single bearing at the other so that a restoring force is produced to centralize the bogie. The socket 43 is secured to the bolster. 28 whilst the ball 42 is carried by an intermediate member 40 having a flat surface 46 to engage the upper surface 36 of the strut 33. Also secured to the member 40 is the ball 39 having a surface 45 which abuts the. underside of the bolster 28, the other socket half of the bearing 35 being secured to the strut 33. Thus when the strut rocks the surfaces 45, 46 disengage from the bolster and the strut respectively. The spherical bearings have rubber inserts 41, 44, 38 bonded to the mating surfaces.
