Abstract

700,248. Motor-cycle frames. GILARDI, C. Jan. 31, 1951 [Feb. 14, 1950], No. 2477/51. Class 136(3) In a motor-cycle frame comprising two hollow intercommunicating structures 1, 3 diverging upwardly, the upper ends of which support respectively the steering tube 2 and the saddle 6, the hollow structure forming a fuel tank, a filling hole 17 is provided with an air-tight cap 5 at the upper end of one of the hollow structures 1 or 3 and an overflow 9 is provided at the upper end of one of the structures 3 or 1. When the filling hole is provided in the saddle supporting structure 3, the saddle is pivotally mounted at 7 (Fig. 1) to a support 8 on the structure 3. The lower surface of the saddle 6 (Fig. 3) may be provided with a cap 5 having an elastic gasket 16 to close the filling hole 17. A bolt 18 pivoted at 19 to the saddle engages a fork 20 on the structure 3 and a nut 21 tightens the saddle in its lowered position and the cap 5 on the hole 17.
