Class 51(ii) [Also in Group XXX] In a continuously travelling bakery conveyer unit of the swing or controlled level tray type for proving or baking dough in tins, each tray 3 comprises a bottom plate 5 extending between end plates 2 and formed with front and rear slots 6 defined by prongs 8 and a central support 7, the ends of the prongs 8 being bent upwardly, said prongs also co-operating with slots in charging and discharging comb platforms 10 and 11 respectively disposed in a chamber at the foot of the oven. As each tray approaches the discharging station B, the pivoted comb plates 16 are swung into a horizontal position leaving a clearance 17 for the passage of the central support 7, the tins are pushed on to a conveyer 21 by the ram 24 of pusher mechanism 15 and the comb plates 16 are swung down again so that if the ram 24 fails the tins fall back on to the tray and a switch mechanism 23 sounds an alarm. The charging comb platform 10 is fed with tins by an endless conveyer 18 mounted with its upper lap level with the platform, pusher gear 20 being provided for sliding the tins onto the fingers 9 of the comb plates 16. These latter may be swung downwardly if it is desired to load the oven by hand through the hatch 25 and further switch mechanism 26 may be provided to stop the conveyer if a tray still containing its load of tins approaches the loading station. In a modified tray construction, Figs. 4-7 (not shown) the tray platform is formed with a single comb arrangement of prongs and complementary fixed charging and discharging platforms are operated in a similar manner to that described above. If it should be necessary to discharge the trays at or on an ascending lap of the conveyer, the tins may be lifted off the trays by displaceable comb platforms as in Specification 696,122.
