Abstract

667,907. Mounting electric motors. HOOVER, Ltd. Feb. 17, 1950 [Feb. 25, 1949], No. 4143/50. Class 35. A vacuum cleaner has a motor fan unit 12 housed in a casing formed of an open-bottomed main section 11 and an auxiliary section 10 inserted into the main section in such a manner that the auxiliary section 10 forms the rear wall 26 of the suction nozzle 16, the lower part of the front wall 23 and of the rear wall 24 of the fan chamber 19, whilst the main casing section 11 forms the remainder of the nozzle 16, the upper part of the front wall 20 and the peripheral wall 22 of the fan chamber 19. The rear wall of the latter, made up of the two portions 21, 24, has in it an opening 25 of sufficient size to pass the fan 53. This opening 25 is closed by the front wall 56 of the unit 12 when it is secured in position. The upper part of the unit 12 is located in relation to the casing by a co-operating projection 76 and recess 60, while the lower part is secured to the casing by screws 59 which also prevent disengagement of the projections and recesses.
