656,868. Conical paper cups. LILY-TULIP CUP CORPORATION. Nov. 25, 1948, No. 30606. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1947. [Classes 66 and 94(ii)] A conical paper cup 29 is formed by winding a paper blank and adhering the overlapping outer edge 26, the pointed apex of the cup being then rounded as shown at 27 by forming a succession of pleats 28 by compression dies or by spinning the cup about mandrels, and compressing. In a modification, pleats converging towards the tip are formed instead of circumferential pleats. The tip of the cup may be impregnated with wax or plastic, or such material may be applied to the blank. The rim of the cup may be rolled to form a bead 43.
