Abstract

656,079. Seats. REID & SIGRIST, Ltd. Dec. 31, 1948, No. 33693. [Class 52 (ii)] A head or like supporting device for resisting acceleration forces on the human body comprises a support member mounted to be movable in the general direction of the force and coupled to a counterbalancing mass which is subjected to the same acceleration force. As shown a supporting member or helmet 20 is pivoted to an intermediate member 16 about an axis 19 which is co-axial with the wearer's neck, the member 16 being pivoted at 17 to the bifurcated end of a longitudinal arm 10 anchored at 12 to a fixture 11. The remote end of the arm 10 has pivoted thereto lever 13 provided with an adjustable counterbalancing mass 14, the lever 13 and the intermediate member 16 being interconnected by a cord 15. The longitudinal arm 10 is adjustable in length.
