Abstract
631,003. Hatch covers. MACGREGOR, J. April 11, 1947, Nos. 9706 and 33443. [Class 113 (i)] The sections A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP>, A<SP>3</SP>, A<SP>4</SP> of a hatch cover have rollers G<SP>1</SP>, G<SP>2</SP> so as to be capable of sliding on the coaming E toward the stowing end of the hatch formed by an extension El clear of the batch opening, and have at least alternate cover sections interconnected to a single haulage rope K whereby a sustained pulling effort to the cover sections causes them to slide to the stowing end of the hatch until the sliding movement is arrested by roller G<SP>2</SP> contacting a stop S whereupon the section is swung upwards until a pivot H engages a socket on the member E1 and up-ends the cover section into substantially vertical position. The sections may be separate, hinged in pairs, or be hinged to one another.
