Abstract
634,312. Piston packing. GRATZMULLER, J. L. Oct. 22, 1946. No. 31403. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1945. [Class 122(i)] A sealing unit for relatively slidable members particularly a piston in a cylinder comprises a supporting member 1. having an annular groove 5 and an outwardly tapering annular groove 6, and a single packing element of plastic material moulded in the grooves and forming a flat annular ring 3 and a lip-shaped cylindrical portion 2 extending beyond the tapered edge of the groove 6. The two grooves 5, 6 are interconnected by axial passages 4 and cooperate respectively with an end face of the piston 8 and the cylinder wall 7, the sealing unit being mounted on an extension 12 of the piston and secured by a shaped washer 10'and nut 11:
