Abstract

626,638. Aerial masts. AUSENDA, C. Feb. 20, 1946, No. 5311. Convention date, May 15, 1941. [Class 20(i)] [Also in Group XL(c)] A vertical tubular telescopic antenna is provided with scaling glands between the sections and is adjusted in length by fluid under pressure. A vertical adjustable antenna comprises telescopic metal tubes 1, 2, 3 which slide into each other through oil tight glands 4. Inside the antenna there is a similar set of tubes 5, 6, 7 also provided with glands and connected at the top and bottom with the outer set so that there is formed between the tubes an annular sealed space into and out of which oil may be pumped through an insulating pipe to adjust the height. The lowest section 1 of the antenna is rigidly mounted in the top of a lattice mast 30 by means of insulators 9 and 10. A weight 15 hung from a cable passing down the inner set of tubes 5, 6, 7, and broken up by insulators, assists to collapse the antenna and a height indicator may be connected to the weight 15.
