Abstract
624,187. Washing-machines. HOOVER, Ltd., BELL, W. C., and COLSTON, A. G. Nov. 25, 1946, No. 34853. [Class 138 (ii)] A rotary impeller which is arranged within the tub F of a washing-machine with its rear face close to a wall of the tub comprises a front disc A which conforms generally to a surface of revolution about its axis except for projections or depressions formed on one face and corresponding depressions or projections on the opposite face, and a coaxially-arranged rear disc B having both its faces conforming wholly to surfaces of revolution about the axis. The two discs may be pressed to the shape shown in the drawing, dimples being formed on the central part of the rear disc for resistance welding to the front disc A and a flat head D<SP>1</SP> on the driving-shaft D. The periphery of the rear disc B is also formed with a step B<SP>1</SP> and curled forwardly at B2 for soldering to the spun-over edge A<SP>3</SP> of the front disc. The front disc A may be pressed on its front face with projections A<SP>2</SP> which may take the form described in Specifications 612,737 and 624,191. The impeller may be partially or wholly sunk within a depression Fl in the wall of the hub or it may be surrounded by an annular rib or projection.
