Abstract
611,389. Universal joints. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. April 30, 1946, No. 13035. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1945. [Class 80 (ii)] A universal coupling comprises members 2 secured to the parts 3, 4, to be coupled, with end thrust members 7 provided with interdigitated fingers 11. A rubber or like resilient annulus 14 is embraced by the fingers 11 and has inward projections extending between the fingers 11 to transmit the torque. Between the thrust members 7 is a resilient member 9, preferably a rubber ball, which is held in compression by the annulus 14 preventing axial separation of the members 7.
