616,938. Ball-and-socket joints. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. Sept. 24, 1946. No. 28517. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1945. [Class 65 (ii)] A ball - and - socket joint comprises a tapered socket 11, a ballended stud 21, rigid ball seats 25 having outer walls which taper in the same general direction as the socket, and a resilient bushing 34 surrounding the seats and fitting snugly in the socket. The seats, which are made of plastic material or of self-lubricating metal, are separated by longitudinally disposed gaps 33. A spring 35 is interposed between the seats and a closure plate 16. A dust cap 36 is provided.
