Abstract
616,833. Peeling and washing vegetables &c. BELCHER, A. G. W., and TILL, W. J. June 6, 1946. No. 17157. [Class 28 (ii)] [Also in Groups II and XXIII] A machine for preparing food comprises a rotatable abrasive platform 13b driven by water impinging on arcuate vanes 13h, and supported on a ball-bearing on the central boss 12 in the base of the machine. The arcuate vanes are preferably surrounded by a shroud 13l. The platform is arched thus providing undulations or ripples on its surface Figs. 2, 3 (not shown) and is furnished with apertures 13p which provide drives for a double-walled vessel 17, Fig. 4, in which a shaft 18 supporting beaters 18a is held stationary while the vessel revolves with the platform. The central boss 13m of the platform has a notch 13n into which may be fitted the lowest beater, and thereby provide a drive for the shaft, to the screwed end 18b of which a grinding wheel may be secured, Fig. 9 (not shown). Alternatively a coring tool may be fitted to the boss, Fig. 8 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the vanes may be straight, the shroud being omitted.
