Abstract

1388362 A salad centrifuge ETABS A FOUINETEAU SA 4 June 1973 [6 June 1972] 26481/73 Heading A4A [Also in Divisions B1 and F4] An appliance for vegetable drying comprises a covered container 1 containing a removable basket 13 rotatably mounted on a pivot 2 projecting at the centre of the bottom of the container. The basket is rotatingly driven by a first coupling element from a horizontally mounted crank via a gear train which is supported by the cover 3. A second coupling element at the rim 8 of the basket engages the first coupling element. The crank sweeps part of the cover area outside of which further areas, limited by steps 12, form hand grips. The first coupling element may be a disc 6 or a plurality of arms connecting the hub 7 to the rim which may be formed as a truncated cone 114 engaging a similar female surface 15 inside the basket rim. The crank may be formed from a disc 10 with a handle 11, rotating in a depression 9 in the cover and attached to an upper shaft 5 of a step-up speed gear train having an output shaft 4 concentric with upper shaft 5 and connected to the disc 6. A circular rib 16 facilitates removal of the basket by providing a hand grip. When removed from the container 1 the basket may be used as a static strainer.
